Public Works Department

The principal responsibility of the Public Works Department is to ensure public safety by maintaining the Borough’s infrastructure and utilities both below and above the surface. The Public Works Department is also responsible for keeping our streets clean, maintaining all of the Borough’s recreational parks, snow removal, storm water management, waste water management, road resurfacing, vehicle maintenance, contracted project oversight, planning, and Borough-owned properties maintenance.

Public Works also serves as a liaison between the Borough and our engineers/contractors on special projects, such as street paving, curb & sidewalk upgrades, grass cutting & landscaping, and any other project that involves the Borough’s infrastructure or property.

There are two (2) areas in the Borough’s Public Works Department: Highway and Sewer Distribution. Each has a Lead Labor Foreman, who reports to the Borough Manager, and several laborers who report to the Lead Foreman.
