Dauphin County Local Share Municipal Grant Program Boosts Community Projects in Steelton Borough

Steelton, Pennsylvania – The Dauphin County Local Share Municipal Grant Program opens on July 1, 2025, and is a vital resource for community and infrastructure projects in Steelton Borough and its neighboring areas. This program provides critical funding to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents and promote economic development.

Eligibility Guidelines for Entities Requesting Co-Applicant Status from Steelton Borough for a Dauphin County Local Share Municipal Grant Application:

  1. Project for which the application is being submitted must be located within the municipal boundaries of Steelton Borough or directly benefit the Borough and/or its residents.
  2. Applicant must request co-application in writing to Steelton Borough Council by July 9, 2025.  Please email request letter to Kathy McCool at kmccool@steeltonpa.com.
  3. Requestor must appear before the Steelton Borough Neighborhood and Economic Development Committee at a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss their co-application request on July 16, 2025 @ 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building; and
  4. Requestor must prove project is deliverable and provides a tangible community, economic, or public safety benefit to the Borough of Steelton.

Public Safety Walk – Cottage Hill – Wed, July 9

The next Public Safety Walk will be held on Cottage Hill at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Join the Police Department, Mayor Dent, Borough Council members, and the public to meet and greet your neighbors!

The route is as follows: We will begin at the football field gate on 6th Street at 6:00 PM, then walk Marshall Street to 7th Street. We will turn onto Spruce Street and continue to 4th Street. We will walk 4th Street south to Blanche Avenue and turn up to walk Angeline Alley to Primrose Avenue. We will turn right onto Primrose and then make a left onto Cottage Hill Lane. We will walk Cottage Hill Lane to Catherine Street, walk Catherine Street to 6th Street. and then finish back at the football field gate.

Town Hall Meeting – 6/4 @ 6:30 PM

Mayor Ciera Dent will be hosting a Town Hall meeting at the Steelton Borough Municipal Building on Wednesday, June 4 at 6:30 PM. State Representative Dave Madsen will also be in attendance to answer questions and assist residents. Join us as we keep our pulse on the community, learn about your needs, and hear your thoughts on the issues that matter most.

Fun Times in the Park Postponed Tonight (5/21)

We want to inform you that the Fun Times in the Park event originally scheduled for May 21, 2025, has been postponed. We appreciate your understanding and encourage everyone to stay tuned for the new date!

Borough & Police Statement Regarding Lincoln Street Lineup

It has come to the attention of the Borough and Police Department that the Lincoln Street Prom Lineup is scheduled to take place today, Friday, May 9, 2025. The Borough Council did not approve this event, and it will be shut down. Vehicles blocking the street will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. The Borough and Police Department strongly recommend not attending this unsanctioned event.

Fun Times in the Park 2025 Schedule

The Steelton Borough Police Department is excited to announce this year’s Fun Times in the Park schedule. All events are from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM:

  • Monday, April 28 at Municipal Park (Franklin Street & 3rd Alley)
  • *NEW DATE* Saturday, May 17 at Ryan Mohn Memorial Park (Primrose Avenue & Cottage Hill Lane)
  • *POSTPONED – NEW DATE TBA* Wednesday, May 21 at East End Park (South 4th Street & P Street)

We will be bringing board games, sports balls, sidewalk chalk, and other fun activities. Feel free to bring your favorite games too!

*LOCATION CHANGE* 2025 Egg Drop & Bunny Hop – Sat, Apr 12

*DUE TO FORECASTED INCLEMENT WEATHER, THIS EVENT WILL NOW BE HELD AT THE STEELTON FIRE DEPT.*

Join us for the 2025 Steelton Egg Drop & Bunny Hop on Saturday, April 12, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the Steelton Fire Department, located at 185 North Front Street. There will be family fun for everyone, including photos with the Easter bunny, arts & crafts, and an Easter egg hunt. Be sure to bring a basket or bag so you can hop for eggs and candy!

This event is also a great opportunity for businesses or nonprofit organizations to engage with families through craft stations, giveaways, and fun activities. We expect over 100 children and encourage simple, interactive participation like coloring, small games, or snacks. If you’d like to join us, please RSVP to kmccool@steeltonpa.com by April 5th.
