1/29/2016 Snow Update

The Steelton Public Works Department, contractors, and staff worked hard this week to clear main roads, open alleys, and keep conditions as safe as possible for residents given the magnitude of Winter Storm Jonas. We thank Borough residents for their patience and cooperation this week. Warmer temperatures will return this weekend into next week helping reduce the amount of snow piled on the side of streets. On Monday, the Public Works Department will continue to remove snow in the Borough focusing on intersections and corners. This will be the last update for this week. Please keep in mind the following reminders: (more…)

Attention: Lincoln St. Residents

Attention Lincoln Street Residents: Snow Removal on Friday, January 29th in Certain Sections

Be prepared to move your car off of Lincoln Street tomorrow. After finishing Second Street, Borough staff and contractors will attempt to remove as much snow as possible from Lincoln Street. Moving your car off the street will help facilitate snow removal. Please be prepared to move your car off of Lincoln Street by the afternoon.

Steelton Borough Police will be knocking on doors tomorrow to remind Lincoln Street residents to move their cars in the section of Lincoln Street the Borough is working on.

There is no “No Parking” designation for Lincoln Street tomorrow, and towing will not be enforced. However, voluntarily moving your car off the street will help the Borough clear as much snow as possible.

The Public Works Department, contractors, the Police Department and Fire Department continue to coordinate snow cleanup and clearing efforts in the Borough. Snow Emergency Extended Until Friday, January 29th at 6pm.

Trash Pickup Cancelled this Week

Due to the amount of snowfall this weekend and the amount of snow that needs to be cleared from Borough streets, trash services will be suspended for this week.

PLEASE DO NOT PLACE TRASH OUT FOR PICKUP THIS WEEK. It will not be picked up by Republic Services.

Next week, Republic Services will pick up double the amount for trash for residents.

This is necessary to keep trash cans and trash out of the streets this week while the Borough removes snow.

Thank you again for your patience.

1/25/2016 Snow Update

Evening Update:

Steelton Borough staff and contractors removed snow from most of Front Street today in order to allow for the future parking of cars that is needed to fully remove snow on Second Street and other streets.

Please remember, we are still under an Emergency Declaration until 3pm Wednesday with the possibility of an extension. Front Street remains a NO PARKING area until further notice. DO NOT PARK ON FRONT STREET until further notice. (more…)

Trash Service Will Be Delayed to Thursday, January 28th

Due to the snowstorm, Republic Services will be operating on a schedule that is one day behind. Steelton residents should plan to have their trash picked up on Thursday, January 28th.

Republic Services will make every attempt to service residents in a timely manner. However, because of the time it will take to clear out all streets, some residents living on streets with poor road conditions may not be serviced this week. In those few cases Republic Services will collect double next to ensure all trash and recycling is collected as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we work together to dig out from this historic snow storm.
